Join us for an afternoon of inspiring talks and a panel discussion as we reflect on a decade of scientific excellence, collaboration, and innovation within EMBRC Belgium and look ahead to an exciting future of cutting-edge research in support of a sustainable blue economy.
What is EMBRC?
The European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC) is a European research infrastructure dedicated to marine biological and ecological excellence science. Its mission is to advance our understanding of marine biological resources and their functions, while promoting their sustainable use for the benefit of society. EMBRC Belgium includes five operators: Ghent University (coordinator), KU Leuven, UHasselt, Flanders Marine Institute and the Institute of Natural Sciences. Together, they provide access to marine resources (organisms and ecosystems), specialized training courses, high-end expertise, and cutting-edge infrastructure. EMBRC supports innovative research to address pressing marine environmental challenges such as sustainable marine aquaculture, renewable energy developments, blue biotechnology and ecosystem management. Over the past 10 years, EMBRC Belgium facilitated close to 300 scientific papers and participated in 40 European research projects.
